BlacK History Month in 2026

Black History Month is not only about looking back. It is about recognizing how the past shapes who we are becoming in real time.

Black history lives in our language, our creativity, our resilience, and our joy. It shows up in how we move through the world, how we build community, and how we imagine futures that extend far beyond what we were once told was possible. It is not confined to textbooks or timelines. It is alive, evolving, and deeply personal.

This year, Black History Month holds special meaning for me as I have the privilege of serving on the inaugural executive board of the Generational African American Student Association (GAASA). Being part of a founding leadership team has reminded me that Black history is not something that only exists in the past. It is actively being created through community building, student leadership, and collective care. GAASA represents a commitment to honoring generational wisdom while creating space for new voices, ideas, and traditions to take root.

At One of Your Little Friends, we view Black history as something we participate in daily. Each act of advocacy, mentorship, and self-trust continues a legacy of resilience and imagination. Becoming is not separate from history. It is history in motion.

This month, we encourage you to honor Black history in ways that feel authentic to you. Learn something new. Celebrate your wins, no matter how small. Rest without guilt. Make room for joy, reflection, and softness. There is no single way to honor where we come from.

Black history is not only about survival. It is about vision, creativity, and possibility. As we continue to grow, build, and become, we are writing the next chapters together.

We are proud to do so in community. 🖤
